Abolishment of Disability Grading System

Last year, Korea made a decision to change the disability grading system.

Abolish the Disability Grading System in 2019 and adopt a comprehensive assessment system in order to provide the customized service that fits better with the needs and conditions of people with disabilities.

They will establish the supporting center for money. -

Establish "a public rehabilitation & health care center" for children to provide the rehabilitation service for children with severe disabilities, introduce the family doctor system and designate medical check-up centers to manage the chronic diseases that are more prevalent among people with disabilities (76%) compared to persons without disabilities (33%)

[Education‧culture‧sport]

Expand the number of special schools and classes that have gyms, libraries, etc.

Increase the service of Munhwa Nuri card.

Increase the facilities of sports center.

[Economical independence]

Increase the basic amount of Disability Pension to 250,000 won in 2018, and seek a way to raise it as much as 300,000 won in 2021.

Raise the additional allowance and disability allowance considering the disability characteristics and age.

Support for employment by increasing the employment quota for persons with disabilities.

Improve the Preferential Purchase of Products Manufactured.

Make a mid-long term road map to activate the education for raising awareness on disability

Organize the legal system to support the safety disadvantaged group

Develop a manual for safety education and action in the case of disaster

Strengthen the standards of equipments for alarming‧shelter‧safety for persons with disabilities.

Expand the scope of information accessibility.

Provide the assistive devices for information and communications such as screen-reading software, special mouse, etc.

Many people criticized about this system because even though we have this system, nothing change. I think so. Nothing change for my family. However, I want a change through this.
